　　一、當 convenience 表示抽象意義的“方便”“合宜”時，它是不可數名詞。如：

　　What sells CDs to most people is convenience. 多數人買CD是圖個方便。

　　The hotelcombines comfort with convenience. 這家旅店既舒適又方便。

　　二、當 convenience 表示以下具體意思時，它則是可數名詞：

　　(1) 表示具體的“便利設施”“方便用具”等，則可數。如：

　　They wouldn't like to live without modern conveniences such as microwaves. 他們不愿過那種沒有微波爐之類現代化便利設施的生活。

　　用于慣用表達 as a convenience (to sb)，意思是“為方便(某人)”，與 for (sb's) convenience 大致同義。又如：

　　we group them intospecies merely as a convenience. 我們將其分類只是為了方便。

　　Thesupermarket offers a bag-packing service,as a convenience to customers. 為方便顧客，這家超市提供袋裝服務。

　　(2) 表示“方便的事”，也是可數名詞。如：

　　It's a great convenience living next door toa post office. 住在郵局隔壁極為方便。

　　(3) 表示“(公共)廁所”，是可數名詞。如：

　　There is a public convenience on the cornerof the street. 在街道的拐角處有公共廁所

　　既可以做可數名詞也可做不可數名詞，如：

　　1、a wide/limited vocabulary詞匯量大/有限，就是可數名詞。

　　2、The word has become part of advertising vocabulary. 這個單詞已經成了廣告用語。就是不可數名詞。

　　他們開口閉口都是聯(lián)邦制度，滿口時髦詞匯。

　　5. There is a vocabulary at the back of our English book.

　　我們英語課本的后面附有詞匯表.

　　6. The teacher tied in what he said with the vocabulary in the previous lesson.

　　老師把他所講的同前一課中的詞匯聯(lián)系起來.

　　7. The basic vocabulary of a language is those words that must be learnt.

　　一種語言的基本詞匯即必須掌握的詞語.

　　8. This book is intended to enlarge vocabulary.

　　這本書的目的是為了擴大詞匯量。
